I never had any intentions of taking a sixteen day blog break, it just happened. I think it’s safe to say I’ve had a little trouble keeping up with the blog in recent months and I really hate it. There just isn’t enough time in the day for everything and when I have to let something go, this is it. It doesn’t mean I don’t miss it or that I haven’t been taking tons of pictures to share, just that I’ve been filling my evenings with more important things for now. BUT, I’m back (at least for today!) and have tons to share. Sit back and enjoy!
WEEK EIGHTEEN:
Sunday, April 29 (Day 120): It seems like every year a squirrel gets into our attic over the winter and chews a hole in the drainage pipe of our central air unit. I cannot count the number of times that SD has had to climb up there and run a new one before the temperatures reached 90*. Last Sunday, he made the trek again and found me this vintage enamel boiler while he was up there! I might not can cook in it, but I’m sure I can find a very useful home for it.
Monday, April 30 (Day 121): One of my biggest pet peeves is drivers who don’t know how to merge. This spot frustrates me every single morning during my commute.
Tuesday, May 1 (Day 122): 10:30 in the morning seems like the best time of day to head out to the gym to run. I’ve been taking an early lunch to avoid the crowds and it’s nice to get in a 45 minute jog without any company.
Wednesday, May 2 (Day 123): This is the view from my office window. I’m right in the middle of the business district and there is always something interesting to see out there. You can tell the window-washers need to pay me a visit!
Thursday, May 3 (Day 124): I bailed on the photo prompt for this day completely by accident. I did, however, capture a stinking cute two year old at her well baby visit. She weighed 26 lbs and 3 ounces and was perfect!
Friday, May 4 (Day 125): On Friday, Ella had her very first field trip at the McWane Science Center. She had such a good time hanging out with me all day. The museum is just a few blocks from my office, so she rode to work with me and we walked to meet her friends later in the morning. She lucked out and got to have ice cream and watch an IMAX film with another friend while I put in a few more hours at the office before heading home.
Saturday, May 5 (Day 126): I love getting Ella’s artwork from pre-K on Fridays. One of my favorite pieces is a giant sheet of paper with the word “UP” repeated about a hundred times. She drew lots of different things that you might find up in the sky, including this bird.
WEEK FIFTEEN:
AND just in case you wanted to know what happened the three weeks before that, here goes! You’ll notice there were several days that I completely abandoned the photo-a-day prompt again. Oops.
Sunday, April 8 (Day 99): On Easter Sunday, I had my first Dr. Pepper in forty days. It was delicious and I’ve had quite a few since then. I’m planning to have one more today and then I’ll be fasting sodas again between now and our beach trip in June. Pray for me!
Monday, April 9 (Day 100): Sophie appears to be just as obsessed with Doritos as her big sister. One of the fast food places that we do eat on occasion is Subway. My girls love their kids meals.
Tuesday, April 10 (Day 101): As I geared up for Sophie’s big birthday bash, I spent lots of time working on little projects to make it perfect. Don’t you love the Hoppy Birthday water bottles?
Wednesday, April 11 (Day 102): I also made cute goldfish carrots for the party favors, courtesy of Pinterest.
Thursday, April 12 (Day 103): I even succumbed to some yummy Burger King for dinner after dance and thought this advertisement on their packaging was pretty great.
Friday, April 13 (Day 104): The night before Sophie’s birthday, my mom and I made these precious cupcakes. These were a combination of several ideas we found on Pinterest!
Saturday, April 14 (Day 105): On Saturday, we celebrated this little bitty’s second birthday. It is safe to say we’re all feeling pretty happy about the day (party post is coming this week — I promise!!).
WEEK SIXTEEN:
Sunday, April 15 (Day 106): It seems like immediately following her party we began to experience the terrible twos. This kid is into EVERYTHING. I will say, though, that as exhausting as she is some days, she is hilarious and so much fun.
Monday, April 16 (Day 107): How amazing are these flowers? My dad and I transplanted this confederate jasmine vine the summer after Josh and I bought the Rock House. I never expected it to live, much less thrive. It’s gone from a 5 gallon plant to a huge vine that climbs our chimney and this entire side of our house. It smells SO good.
Tuesday, April 17 (Day 108): I really like running on the treadmill at lunch. What I don’t like is that I cannot seem to break a ten minute mile inside. Ugh.
Wednesday, April 18 (Day 109): I’m thrilled that my hair is finally long enough for a big, messy, fun bun. Finally.
Thursday, April 19 (Day 110): My new favorite treat is sweet potato chips. These Terra ones are great, but even better is a local bakery near my office that makes fresh ones daily. Yum!
Friday, April 20 (Day 111): Did you know I was an art major in college? This is a multi-color stone lithograph that I printed in my final semester. It hangs in our living room and I still love thinking about that wonderful time I spent in the studio.
Saturday, April 21 (Day 112): It doesn’t matter how many times I round up trash around the house, there are always ten empty water bottles stashed in random places.
WEEK SEVENTEEN:
Sunday, April 22 (Day 113): The last thing I bought (when I posted this picture) was these ruched running tights by Reebok. They are heather grey and are ruffled and ruched up the side seam. They are tight and short, but super comfy and allow for excellent range of motion when running. They are my new favs, even though I’m clearly cheating on Nike.
Monday, April 23 (Day 114): Taco night seems to be the one night that nobody complains about dinner. We have to buy lots of tomatoes for a fresh batch of pico de gallo.
Tuesday, April 24 (Day 115): I am so grateful for silly, little girls with dirty faces and big girl cups. She was wearing an old, faded t-shirt and had the nastiest face, but boy was she excited to get to drink out of a straw at dinner that night!
Wednesday, April 25 (Day 116): We’ve since curbed the paci habit, but this is what SK’s bed looks like most nights. She has a cow pillow, Tuck, Lucy (her bitty baby), her favorite pink blanket and another blanket with a kitty’s face on it. She can’t be without any of these things!
Thursday, April 26 (Day 117): I love this bracelet, courtesy of Tootlebugs on Facebook. It looked super cute with my new pink trench coat from Gap that I got over 75% off last week!
Friday, April 27 (Day 118): I didn’t have to go far for lunch — a few weeks ago there was an art festival downtown and the taco truck was right outside my office. Steak nachos was a perfect post-run lunch.
Saturday, April 28 (Day 119): This is one of the major reasons I haven’t been blogging. I’ve been spending lots of uninterrupted time hanging out with my best friend. We’ve rented way too many movies and enjoyed lazy afternoons on the couch. I think this might be the sweetest season of our married life so far.
Well, that’s it. Almost an entire month rolled into one post. Are you exhausted yet?
