So, about that party…
We were lucky enough that Sophie’s birthday fell on a Saturday this year and even luckier that it was only a week after Easter. I decided that with all of the bunny goods on the market in the weeks leading up to her party, that an Easter-themed soiree was definitely the way to go. Then, after the she had such a great time hunting eggs on Easter morning, it was confirmed I had made the right decision!
First up were invitations. I had them printed on linen paper and bought grey linen envelopes from a local paper supply shop. I originally wanted a pencil drawing of a bunny, but I just didn’t have time to do one myself. Instead, I used a stock image of a bunny and filtered it in Photoshop to give it the look I wanted. They were so sweet and just what I was looking for!
Because my parents’ have such a beautiful home and the perfect place to hide eggs, we decided to have a garden party at their house. We set up picnic tables all along the drive and covered them in vintage linens. We “planted” an egg tree on the food table and hung banners from the trees. I loved the look of everything.
We served egg salad and cucumber sandwiches, peeps on a stick, coconut cupcakes and individual crudite cups. There was sweet tea, pink lemonade and water to drink and we had plenty of marshmallows and goldfish for little fingers. As always, my lovely sister was there to party with us and take some fantastic photos. Sophie’s cake was perfect! Our baker did a beautiful job of capturing just what I wanted. SK loved the bunny and even got a few swipes of icing before the party.
Before we knew it, it was time to sing Happy Birthday and light the birthday candles. At first, Sophie wasn’t sure what to think…
Then she decided that being the center of attention was pretty fantastic and even clapped for herself a bit!
She blew the candles out like a champ!
But what’s a party without presents, right? There were so many packages to open and everyone was so creative and thoughtful. She truly loved all of her gifts, but I feel sure her favorites were her very own Bitty Baby that she named “Lucy” and her bubble jar. We’ve had many bubble-blowing afternoons since then.
We had such a wonderful day celebrating our little-bitty with friends and family. Sophie was so sweet all day long and thrilled to be at her party after talking about it for days. Thanks for celebrating with us, friends! And join us tomorrow to see all the fun her little friends had celebrating with her.
