Maybe I’ve said this before, but this year is seriously going by way too fast. I feel like every time I turn around it’s another week, another month, a holiday, a birthday, a growth spurt. It is so overwhelming and I feel like I’m falling behind more and more every day. There are so many things I want to do and enjoy with my children and instead the days are ticking away, each one less productive that the one before. I have got to get 2012 under control before 2013 sneaks up on me!
This week had some really great moments. I finally felt a little more productive (at work AND at home), Josh & I started a new workout routine after the girls are in bed at night, we spent a lot of time outside enjoying the gorgeous weather and we started making preparations for Easter. Here goes.
Sunday, April 1 (Day 92): Sunday morning we didn’t go to worship at our home church, but instead visited my cousin & her husband at a huge church about thirty minutes away. I really enjoyed the worship time and the pastor was a great speaker. I’m trying to encourage the hubs to take our girls there on a Friday or Saturday night for an extra night of Jesus time. Sophie literally danced in my lap the whole morning. My other cousin, Kalli, rode with me and had the pleasure of laughing with me as I prayed for a nearby gas station. I found gas at about “5 miles to empty” and could breathe again. If you know me, then you know how much I despise pumping gas — I didn’t do it at all until I went away to college and even now, I try and convince Josh to take care of it for me most times. While I was waiting for my bank account to be drained, I snapped this picture of my reflection in the back window.
Monday, April 2 (Day 93): Back at work, I made huge progress on the projects covering my desk, I sorted my personal mail and managed to clean out my tote bag. This bag is one of my very favorite things — an orange Kate Spade diaper bag that my mom and sister bought for me when I was pregnant with Ella. Now, it is a very convenient work tote and is filled with all kinds of important, colorful things: unread magazines, my coupon binder, notepads and my life planner. If I have to be organized, I may as well enjoy it!
Tuesday, April 3 (Day 94): Ugh, mail. We get enough mail at home that I dread sorting through, but lately, the amount of mail that comes across my desk at work is astonishing. This was a medium sized stack last Tuesday. The mail room actually just dropped off today’s mail and it’s about fives times this amount. Happy post-lunch project to me!
Wednesday, April 4 (Day 95): Okay, just in case you don’t know this, let me explain… Ella spends the night away from home a lot. I used to really freak out (especially when she was little) about not having her at home with me, but I remember how much I loved staying away from home as a little girl and how frequently my mom allowed me to do so. We average about 2 out of 4 Friday nights away each month and every single Wednesday. If she can manage an extra night somewhere in there, she will make a very convincing argument. On Wednesdays, she goes to Mission Friends with my mom at our church and because they are late getting home (and I’m late getting home after Bible Study) she always spends the night and rides to school with my mom the next day. I had forgotten to pack her bag last week and had to make a late night run for pajamas and school clothes and this silly girl was waiting up for me. It’s hard to tell (especially in the dark), but she’s holding a bunny made from a washcloth that she & Poppy were working on. She makes me unbelievably happy.
Thursday, April 5 (Day 96): And because this little one is our only child on Thursday mornings, I drop her off at “school” for Josh so that he can sleep a bit later and not leave the house before his three step commute. She had on an adorable “Easa Bunny” t-shirt and insisted on carrying her backpack “like Ebba”. How did this tiny girl get so big?!
Friday, April 6 (Day 97): I woke up on Friday thinking about a salad from Jason’s deli. Maybe it was the photo-a-day prompt that did it to me, but I couldn’t wait to scarf this down. I met a good friend for lunch and let me tell you that my salad was significantly larger than hers!
Saturday, April 7 (Day 98): Saturday was one of those days where we flew by the seat of our pants. BUT, we accomplished all kinds of things around the house like: cutting the grass, edging the yard, cleaning the kitchen & bathroom, folding laundry, organized my jewelry (a three hour project) cleaned out the bathroom cabinets and shelves, cleaned off some shelves in the laundry room and organized the bookcases by our computer. I surveyed the Easter goods and noted that we still needed a few things, including eggs to dye, and we decided to make an unplanned trip to visit Josh’s parents. I somehow managed to sneak a mani/pedi in the day and then found myself in the car alone with my husband on the way to Chuy’s for dinner. The girls were too busy playing with Nana to even realize we left them for an hour. We finished up our Easter shopping, grabbed a few groceries and headed home to dye eggs and the late hour of 8 o’clock. Nothing like a little procrastination to round out the week!
