Let me be honest. I’m sad to be in Birmingham today. My cutie-patootie husband set out yesterday morning for New Orleans and I. AM. JEALOUS. I’ve been saying all season that I was going no matter what, but I’m finding myself at a desk today wishing I wasn’t. When we lost to LSU in November, we booked plane tickets to NYC and never looked back. Then, in the next few weeks things miraculously fell into place for Bama and we wound up back in the big game. I don’t regret going to the city one little bit, but our plan all along had been to buy national championship tickets for Christmas this year. A combination of things kept me home and I sad as I am not to be by his side there is nothing I can do about it. Believe it or not, I am SO thrilled that Josh is there and I hope we pull off a fantastic win tonight and that he has the (second best) time of his life.
Since I couldn’t be there, I thought I’d share some of my favorite pictures from football season over the course of the blog. I hope you enjoy.
At our last Championship win for the 2009 season, I was very much pregnant with Sophie and and Ella was such a little thing!
In 2010, we officially became season ticket holders and I couldn’t wait to see my littles all dressed up.
Here we our in Bryant Denny Stadium — our nice red seats with arm rests and a roof. Thank you, Lord!
October of 2010 brought one of many home games SD went to without me while the girls and I watched with his parents and our friends. We might have had to stay at home, but that didn’t keep us from getting decked out in our crimson & white and cheering on the Tide!
In November of 2010, we took Ella to her very first Alabama game. She was such a trooper, even though it was cold! We saw Denny Chimes, had frozen yogurt and watched the boys come into the stadium. There were many rounds of “Yay, Alabama”!
Later that month, I saw my very first Iron Bowl in person and it was so much fun! We might not have won the game, but it didn’t stop us from having a very good time.
September 3, 2011 will forever be known as “the day I tore the tickets”!
Before we knew it, it was time to take Ella back to Tuscaloosa. She got her first face tattoo and had a blast, as usual.
Here we are at the first LSU game. Man, I can show some school spirit. This one CLEARLY didn’t turn out how we hoped, but I’m crossing my fingers for a better outcome this go round.
I sent SD to NOLA armed with a digital camera and strict orders to take lots of pictures. I might not be there with him, but that does not mean it doesn’t need to be documented for posterity. We’re still not sure he’ll even get into the game, but I’m guessing he’ll be cheering for his team inside or out of the stadium, having a great time.
Roll Tide, friends. I’m hoping I can post again tonight with an even bigger RTR.
