Some of our very best friends live far, far away. We only get to see them a few times a year, when they are in town visiting family, but boy do we get our time in while we can. Chris was our very best friend in high-school (we shared) and married a wonderful girl who lived way down in Louisiana. I can just about guarantee that any time CG is in town, SD is with him somewhere – shooting pool, playing golf, arguing over Nintendo, throwing rocks at mailboxes (wink, wink). You know, the usual.
We are so lucky that life has blessed them with three beautiful girls to match our two and ever luckier that they all love each other a whole lot. It always amazes me how little friends remember each other and love each other fiercely, when they can, even though they might go months without seeing one another.
Do you see the excitement on Belle’s face? This is how happy she was to be bowling with Maddie and her sisters, Breanna & Emma. We met up for a feast of Mexican food for dinner and after one bowling alley with a really long wait and a quick drive with giddy little girls piled in my backseat, we found ourselves here.
Breanna, Emma, Ella and Maddie wanted to pose it up before rolling their (terrifyingly slow) balls down the lane. Can I be honest and tell you that this establishment really wanted to evict us from our perch? The littles’ bowling balls rolled slower that one can imagine and were retrieved by teenage employees numerous times. Not only that, but bowling shoes were eventually abandoned in favor of slippery socks and girls who threw themselves down on the ground to slip and slide. They even managed to slide down the lane a few times before receiving a stern “talking to” from the management. Tee hee.
My stylish bowling shoes looked awesome with my cropped cigarette pants. It was truly a fashion triumph on my part.
I’m not sure how I managed not to get pictures of Chris & Amy, but there wasn’t much time for photography during this adventure. We were too busy snatching little girls out of strangers bowling lanes, standing in line for Icees that went unappreciated, administering potty visits and retrieving car keys from little mouths. Again, the usual.
You’d think those girls had enough of each other after several nights in a row of laughter, but they decided to do it all again the next day. While the daddies were playing decade old video games, these girls hammed it up in Ella’s room and fought Sophie over game pieces, Barbie shoes and fake food. This is the only picture I managed that day, but they were playing the Silly Face Game and quite proud of their little nerds.
Garrett’s, we had a FABULOUS time with you last week and can’t wait to pile on a train and visit you in your new house very soon!
