This weekend was a bit of deja vu`- some friends on Facebook have been planning hard for a long time and we all came together for an Alumni Reunion on Friday night for the Homecoming game at our Alma Mater. Since we live across the street from the school, it is pretty easy to go to the games on Friday nights and even easier when dinner is included! We gussied the girls up in their hounds-tooth and modified it slightly to reflect our black and gold. We even wore cute name tags with the year we graduated… just in case anybody needed a reminder!
Since tailgating fell right around Sophie’s evening nap, I spent most of the time doing this. She was out pretty soon after we got there and Sue was sweet enough to donate a chair to our cause. She slept as long as I sat like this and it was just as fun to watch friends, old and new, mill around from here.
The boys spent most of their time huddled around a television on the tailgate of this truck. Any guesses on what they might be watching? Yep, their high-school football glory days!
All of my sweets looking pretty cute in their game colors. Sophie loved being outside all night and Ella cheered, danced and ate LOTS of blue Italian ice. See those blue lips?
Ella had ditched “school” earlier in the day in favor of a Homecoming Parade ride… wouldn’t you? She couldn’t believe her sweet daddy and I actually agreed to let her ride untethered in the back of her uncle Heath’s truck. Let me assure you that there were adults present and the speed limit was LOW.
She enjoyed The Waffle House for breakfast, a trip to Wal-Mart for parade decorations, Jack’s for lunch and lots of candy to throw.
Drew, Jay, Molly, Ella, Stanley, Dreighton, Jessica & Heath in the back of the truck. Thanks, Jared, for driving them all around town!
It was such a fun day and we loved getting to see friends that we haven’t seen in a really long time. We could’ve felt like teenagers, if it weren’t for the two kids, the mortgage and the extra 25 pounds we were packing. Either way, cheese fries never tasted so good!
