In case you haven’t figured it out yet, our typical Saturdays revolve around college football. SD is a big fan and even when it’s not his team on the big screen, he will watch pretty much any game that’s on. In years past, he has spent almost all day on Saturdays at his parents house watching with his brother and dad, while the Ella and I did “girly” stuff until Alabama kick-off.
Season tickets has thrown a kink into our system this year, although a good kink, for sure. Josh is spending all of the home games in Tuscaloosa and since I won’t be headed back to T-Town until later in the fall, the girls and I have revised our game day schedules.
Mommy, Ella & Sophie, Alabama v. Florida – October 2, 2010
This past Saturday, like several before it, we opted to spend the day with Josh’s family even though he wasn’t in attendance. There were years when football parties were very low on my totem pole, but let me tell you that a winning team, enthusiastic friends & family and the knowledge that my hubby is somewhere in the crowd gives the day a new level of excitement. The girls and I got all dressed up and hung out with Nana & Grandpa Cookie and all of our friends on Saturday and we had such a good time. Josh’s brother grilled us dinner and we STUFFED ourselves with chips and cheesy rotel dip. I swear I needed to be rolled out to the car. The girls were so good and played hard all day, but by the time the last few seconds ticked off the game clock they were yawning and stretching and longing for home. Late evening games make for a rough Sunday morning, especially when Sweet Daddy rolls in around two o’clock in the morning!
