Now that you love laying on your belly and can hold your head up with the best of them, you are spending lots of time on the floor with your toys. You’ll lay on your mat and play with your loveys and rattles until you manage to flip yourself over by accident. As good as you are going from front to back, you haven’t quite mastered back to front. How frustrating that must be!
You are still eating only four bottles a day and they are almost always six ouncers. We have added a big fat bowl of cereal before bedtime, though, and I daresay that might be your favorite meal. You open your mouth like a tiny little bird and are now patient enough to know another bite will soon follow. That bowl is scraped clean so soon after we start and then you’re kicking those legs for a bottle.
At four months old, you are already chatty. Your SD told me that it was my fault that Ella talked so soon and it looks like I’ve done it again. You coo and scream and squeal with delight all day long. You must love to hear yourself talk… I wonder who you got that from? You also LOVE to smile and aren’t stingy with them at all. Friends, family and even strangers benefit from your slobbery smile. Your hands are always in your mouth and that makes it hard to hold onto your paci. They must taste good because you eliminate anything else in the way and stuff them both into your mouth whole. We’ve started letting you wear a bib pretty much everywhere or you are shortly soaking wet.
It is so much fun to watch your little personality bloom. You are such a morning person, but twilight brings out your cranky pants. You love taking baths and playing in the swimming pool; kicking those toes in the water brings endless giggles. You have started liking your sling again, but only like to sit up and face forward. You have a sweet little lambie that you like to snuggle and as long as you have something soft in your hands, you are a happy girl.
So far, this has been my favorite stage. You are so alert and recognize us. You follow our movements around the room and get so excited when we pick you up. You still love to be snuggled, though, and watching you fall asleep in my arms is one of my favorite things. Four months must be the best of both worlds.
