Last night was the big night and Ella did so well! I left in plenty of time, got there super early and had plenty of time to get her dressed. I took tons of pictures in the tap outfit tonight since I didn’t manage to get any last week. I thought she would be nervous about the crowd, but she was so excited when I told her who all was coming to watch her dance.
I got out in the theatre just in time to see the opening numbers and Ella’s group was on early in the show for their tap routine. Mommy’s have to make a mad dash to the dressing room to get them ready for their next number and I managed to greet her just as she came off-stage. She said, “Did you see me? Did I do a great job? Did you cheer for me? Is Nana here?” When I told her how great she did, she replied, “Well, lets get my next outfit on so I can get back on-stage!!” For all that my child is afraid of {scaredy cat}, she is NOT afraid to perform.
Since both of her dances were so early in the evening, we let her come back into the theatre to watch the big girls dance for awhile and she was thrilled to be greeting by her daddy and a dozen roses. She got flowers from our sweet friends Beth & Patrick today, too, so she was really feeling like a princess.
After we left the performance and we loving on our Nana and Gran, Ella told them we were going to a really special place for dinner… Jack’s. Can you tell we have one just a mile away and eat there three times a week?? We went for mexican instead and Ella sported her ballet costume for dinner, hat and all!
This has been such a great first year of dance for her and we couldn’t have asked for a better dance teacher and studio. She and I both made some wonderful new friends and we can’t wait to do it all again in August!
