The shades on our hospital windows are still pulled. I’m sitting in the dark listening to the heavy breathing of two of my favorite people. My other favorite person is probably rubbing the sleep from her eyes, excited to bring Sophie home where she belongs. She has already had blood work done this morning and we’re waiting to hear the results. She has lost a total of 11 ounces, weighing 6 pounds and 3 ounces this morning. I’m hoping to see my doctor soon, enjoy another round of cinnamon french toast and begin the process of coming home. I’m ready to see the rock house and the grey ghost that lives there. I’m ready to see two little blue eyed girls snuggling in mommy’s bed. I’m ready for down-filled pillows and comfortable chairs and rocking in the nursery. Mostly I’m ready for our life as a family of four to exist in one place. Together.
Coming Home.
