1. Daddy doesn’t have black socks and opts for charcoal grey. They look ridiculous with his black pants and shoes.
2. Daddy’s tux doesn’t come close to fitting. We can both fit in the vest and the jacket looks like it was made for Ruben Studdard. I must admit, however, he’s pretty handsome anyway.
3. Oldest ring bearer has a face-plant into the end of a church pew resulting in a rather large strawberry, bruise and cut to the cheek… right before pictures.
4. Flower girls beat their poor flower wreath headpieces to a pulp. Ella can’t stand still enough to keep hers on. Addison refuses to wear hers down the aisle.
5. Ella announces to me during the wedding that she is “READY TO EAT, Mom!”. In her defense, when I place my finger over my lip to quieten her, she whispers this same request.
6. Ella begins talking to herself {quietly, at least} about how she wants to come down, complete with extreme hand gestures. She does this perched on the very edge of the stage, far from her spot.
7. Addison takes a stroll across stage and makes her way behind the piano.
8. The girls find their way back to their marks, sit down and begin inventory on their rose petals.
9. Mommy bores hole in daddy’s head hoping he’ll look at her so she can say, “GET YOUR CHILD!!!”
10. Ella begins to melt down. When offered a shoulder by the closest bridesmaid, her fit escalates. Daddy rescues her and all is finally well.
11. Just when we think the kids are under control, Cason gives us a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday.
Despite the fact that the owners of this daddy and these cute kids couldn’t keep from laughing, the wedding was wonderful. Everyone was beautiful, especially the bride, and the ceremony was very sweet. The reception was great and we were stuffed! I ate a HUGE piece of peanut butter and chocolate grooms cake and the best spinach dip I’ve ever had. I’m pretty sure we went back through the line at least 5 times for more crackers and dip for Ella.
There were baskets of bubbles on the gift table and we stood outside on the wet ground for at least thirty minutes blowing bubbles for the kids. They had the best time running around chasing them and we had a lovely time visiting.
Thank you, John & Lisa, for including us in your special day! It was beautiful and we wish you many happy years.
