It’s that time again, Show Us Where You Live Office Edition! Since technically our office is in the dining room, which you’ve already seen, I’m sharing my craft/play room. I would call it my office – it is where I get creative and fill all of my painting and design orders. There isn’t a computer in this room, which is a little disappointing, but if we moved it here then I would have to share the space with a boy. I’ll take a girly space any day of the week!
I first blogged about the craft room here and although the furniture is pretty much the same, we’ve rearranged a little and added lots of accessories. This room is our former guest room future nursery (I hope), but for now Ella & I needed a place to get creative. I bought the two main pieces of furniture at a local antique/salvage store. The desk and dresser were old hotel pieces that I sanded, refinished and added new knobs to. I’m more than pleased with how they turned out. The desk is in the middle of the room and faces Ella’s bedroom. I love that there is a door between the two spaces, because we spend a lot of time in these rooms… especially with SD traveling.
The chair was a yardsale find that I painted to match and the smaller table to the right was my great aunt’s telephone table. I’m considering painting it kelly green. It is the perfect place to store my sewing machine when I’m not using it and gives me space to stack fabric and supplies so they aren’t in the way.
The pillow in the chair is actually two cushions from World Market that I stacked and covered with cloth napkins from Walmart. I added sheer ribbon ties to keep it in place. On top of the desk is a metal cupcake stand full of craft paint and an antique trifle dish with my sewing essentials.
The dresser above was my grandmother’s and it stores Ella’s pajamas, panties and bows (it’s right next to the bathroom) and all of my fabric. On top of it is a six dollar lamp from the junk store with a lampshade I got on sale at Target. The canvas was painted by my Aunt Margaret of an older lady she went to church with in New Orleans. The metal chair was a yardsale find, topped of with a sheet-covered cushion and another napkin covered pillow! I love to be crafty. The doorknobs are something my dad made me for Christmas one year and I hang my scarves and hats here in the winter.
Here’s the fireplace with more magnets, some wrapping supplies and a “clothesline” where we like to hang Ella’s art.
I want y’all to know I’d rather this TV not be here, but it was a quarter inch too wide for the chiffarobe! We need it because this is where we exercise and where Ella watches DVDs, since she doesn’t have a TV in her room. The cabinet was in my nursery and my mom’s nursery!
And here’s where it all happens. This chest of drawers holds my canvases and paper, scrapbooking supplies, tools, glue, modpodge and every other craft supply you can possibly imagine. The corkboard above was fashioned out of an old window pane and the shelf is just a piece of wood on brackets I picked up at Hobby Lobby.
See all of that fun stuff?
Here is the door to our only bathroom. The giraffe was handmade by my aunt and hung in my room growing up. There isn’t enough wallspace in the princess room, so we hung it here instead. I take Ella’s picture in front of it on her birthday.
And finally the masterpiece over the mantel. I had an old canvas that needed a facelift and nothing to hang over the mantel. I painted the background kelly green and gave Ella a pallette with coordinating colors to finish it up. She loves to paint and it was a fun way to introduce a pop of color on such a large wall. You can come back on Friday to see pictures of the painting process… she had such a good time.
Thanks for coming to visit, I hope you’ll come again soon. Don’t forget to check out Kelly’s blog and see all of the other home offices. It is a wonderful treat! You can click here for my previous Friday posts.
