Well, sort of. I’ve gotten asked a couple of times this weekend where I’ve been and why I haven’t been blogging. The honest answer is sometimes there just isn’t anything to say. Add to that the fact that I hadn’t folded laundry in about ten days, I had an itch to spend a little money and we were having my parents and Kamin & Cory over for dinner and you can pretty much forget about it.
I’ve been looking for matching rugs for my living room and dining room for months, but I’ve really focused on that for the last 6-8 weeks. I cannot spend upwards of $1000 on a single rug, since I need two. My living and dining rooms open to one another and act like one large room. I had a rug that I liked in the living room, but was having a hard time finding something coordinate. I’ve been looking at Overstock and Homegoods just to see what I could find, but finding something you love in your price range and them having two in stock seemed near impossible. Until Thursday.
I randomly went in Homegoods on my way home and hit paydirt. They had tons of beautiful rugs that met my criteria, but specifically there were two that were perfect. They were about 60% of the budget we’d agreed on, but over the amount that I could spend without confirmation! Unfortunately, Josh is traveling in an area with no cell service, so I was forced to leave a message and more importantly leave the rugs for some other person to snatch up.
Lucky for me, my husband is a gem and called me back pretty quickly to give me the go ahead. Since it was too late to pick them up on Thursday, I said a little prayer that there wasn’t anyone else with an orange great room looking for matching 10×12 foot rugs in MY Homegoods. We went out for dinner Friday and managed to squeeze them in the Jeep and head on home. Despite Josh’s speech about not rolling them out and moving furniture until Saturday, I managed to barter a backrub for some redecorating and I’m now the proud owner of two beautiful rugs that are Pottery Barn pretty on a Homegoods budget. Yeah me.
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s got me so excited. I’ll show you how great they look in the room on Friday, just in time for Kelly’s “Show Us Where You Live – Dining Rooms.”
On another note, Josh folded and put away the laundry and family night supper was a roaring success. I have a fridge full of salad and poppyseed chicken and hopefully I’ll remember to carry it for lunch tomorrow (unlike today).
