I am such a bad blogger-mommy. My life has been so busy over the last few weeks, so my blogging schedule is pretty non-existent! I promise to do better in the days and weeks to come.
Sunday night (and last night) was our Christmas music at church and it was so funny to watch Ella’s reaction. She was sad that her daddy wasn’t sitting with us and I explained that he would be on stage. When the choir came out and he wasn’t there, she looked at me and asked, “Where is my daddy?” I told her to keep watching. When he finally came on stage she got so excited and then freaked out when he left stage. She asked very loudly when he’d be coming back. The next time she spoke up, John (our pastor) was singing on stage dressed as Joseph. I explained that it was Joseph and she whispered, “That’s not Jofus, that’s John!” Finally the last time Josh came on stage she told me, “That my daddy… he’s a shepherd!” Then she wanted to go see him, “RIGHT NOW!” and was quite upset when I told her no.
Yesterday morning when she woke up she reminded me that daddy was on stage and up really high (he was in the baptistery) and that he looked just like a princess! He did have on a dress…
Tonight we had an opportunity to snuggle a bit before bed in her new flannel, Christmasy sheets (which she is totally digging, I might add). She was telling me that Santa Claus was coming and that she was going to share her cookies and her milk and her sheets, but not tonight… on Christmas. She then said, “Because Santa Claus is coming to town!”
As cute as all of this was, it cannot top the closing remark made by her as I crawled out of her bed. “Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Mom. We say that at Gran’s, with the baby Jesus.” Have I mentioned that I love her lately?
