Sorry… no pictures of Ella today, but I did want to show you these funnies. For those of you who don’t know, Beemer was our first baby. She is a five year old weimaraner that we bought right before our first wedding anniversary. Josh always had a dog growing up and I never did. Since he wanted one, I got to pick the breed. I had always admired these grey ghosts and in no time at all we had a sweet one to call our own.
She used to have the run of the house, but since Ella was born she is very mischievous and likes to get into things she shouldn’t. We often come home to half-eaten socks and underwear, chewed up shoes and her snuggled up with throw pillows on the couch. We made the laundry room hers and bought her a big cushy bed, then locked her in every day while we were at work. Now don’t feel bad for her… our laundry room is about 200 square feet and she has floor to ceiling windows to gaze out of. A few days ago, she destroyed her doggy bed and we came home to a room full of stuffing.
After pondering the need to buy a bed that was indestructible, easy to clean and fit for a princess – we came up with this… a crib mattress. It is actually large enough for our 75 pounder, is plastic covered for easy clean-up, we have tons of old crib sheets that can be thrown in the wash and it will take her longer than usual to figure out how to destroy it :). My advice to any of you out there with a large-breed is to check out your local thrift stores, yard sales and hand-me-downs for a make-do dog bed. Even Beemer thinks this is perfection!
